Let's Talk about oils
The most healthful oils are Canola and Olive oils because of their high unsaturated fat content.
Canola oil offer Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.
Olive oil and EVOO comes from pressing of olives. EVOO is more expensive and is used for dressings. Regular olive oil can be used for most cooking uses.
Soybean oil is inexpensive and has a high smoke point.
Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E protecting it from rancidity.
Cottonseed oil has more saturated fatty acids than most oils-be leery.
Grape seed oil has the highest smoke points. It's expensive and used by chefs for very hot searing of foods. Grape seed oil is rich in linoleic and oleic acid and has a slight grape flavor.
Nut oils are typically used for drizzles and finishing foods rather than cooked in foods. They are expensive.
Tropical oils are highly saturated. Tropical oils are your coconut, Palm, and palm kernel oils. Most are used in Africa and parts of Asia where they are needed for extra calories. Some research shows some health benefits of coc ur oil.
